Cartridges

Cartridges, ‘carts’, ‘vapes’, or ‘vape pens’ are convenient and discreet ways to consume cannabis. Different forms of cannabis oil can be inserted into a ‘cartridge’, that is then vaporized by heating through a battery or ‘vape pen’. The battery can be charged and re-used with different cartridges.

Cartridges can be purchased filled with distillate oil (refined THC), that is then flavored with terpenes to mimic different strains or flavors. Cartridges can also be filled with live resin or rosin, containing the natural terpenes and cannabinoids of the cannabis flower from which it was produced.

Most cartridges come in a standard size called ‘510 thread’, which will fit on any standard batteries. Some batteries fit with their proprietary cartridges only, such as PAX or Airo.

Some cartridges come with the battery all-in-one, also known as ‘single use’ or ‘disposable’. These are the easiest ways to purchase vape pens since it comes with everything you need to vaporize cannabis oil right away without purchase of any other equipment.

There are many different types of cartridges on the market, and some are better than others in terms of the hardware used to store and heat the oil. Cheaply or poorly made cartridges can be dangerous, leaching out heavy metals or burning the oil unsafely. It is best to buy cartridges from reputable brands, and be wary of anything that tastes or looks bad!
